Forde, Scott ease to Courts 10k wins

It was business as usual for Guyana’s distance king Cleveland Forde with yet another Courts 10k win on Sunday morning in front of Courts Guyana Main Street, Georgetown, branch.

Forde, as is usually the case, tucked early in the race before outsprinting his opponents for the win in a time of 33 minutes, 37 seconds.

Winston Missenger came in second with a time of 33:45s, while Cleveland Thomas finished a close third with a time of 33:46s. Jonathan Fagundes finished fourth in 35:17s, while Larry Nicholas rounded out the top five with a time of 36:10s.

Meanwhile, in the female version of the race, Ashanti Scott took the win in 43:08s to finish ahead of Leyanna Charles, who clocked 45:38s for the second spot. Joanna Archer was third in 46:05 seconds.

Maria Urquhart won the Girls 16-19 age category 10k in a time of 45:05s, while Rickie Williams won the male version of the race in 35:05s.

The Boys 10-15 age category 1600m was won by Alex Hartog in 5:47.90s, while Keshawna Harding won the female version of the event in 6:06.40s.

The Women’s Veteran 10k was won by Alisha Fortune in 51:37s, while Michael Davidson, Gary Hartog and Llewellyn Gardner won the 40-50, 51-60 and 61-100 Men’s Veteran age categories respectively.

President of the Athletics Association of Guyana Aubrey Hutson was pleased with the event and thanked the sponsors and athletes for making it a success.
