Minibus slams into US Ambassador’s vehicle

A number of persons have been rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, after a Route 44 minibus – BRR 8656 – crashed into the back of a Land Cruiser, which transports United States Ambassador to Guyana, Perry Holloway.

The accident occurred on Friday morning at Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara and fortunately, the US Ambassador was not in the vehicle at the time of the incident.

News Room understands that both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the accident occurred. The impact caused damage to the bumper and side fender of the Ambassador’s vehicle while the front of the minibus was smashed in.

At the scene, the driver of the minibus appeared to be very shaken as the backup security from the United States Embassy arrived at the scene of the accident.

The traffic along the northern section of the East Coast Highway in the vicinity of Liliendaal was backed up as the police attempted to restore some level of normalcy to the traffic flow.
