The campaigns of Guyana’s badminton players Priyanna Ramdhani and Tyrese Jeffery have ended at the second South American Youth Games at Centro de Entrenamiento Olimpico, Santiago, Chile.

Ramdhani, after a good run throughout the tournament to reach the quarter-finals, lost to powerhouse Brazilian Sania Passos on Friday.

Leading up to quarter-final, Ramdhani played in the Group Round-Robin Singles, winning two matches against Suriname and Chile and losing to Peru. She also teamed up with Jeffrey in the Mixed Doubles, winning against Panama, but losing against Brazil and Chile.

“Ramdhani is now ranked number four overall in the South American region. Tyrese Jeffrey played well also, but needs more international exposure which will happen as he attends more tournaments. The Guyana Badminton Association is extremely happy with the performances of these two players, who played their all especially in this cold condition and high altitude,” the Guyana Badminton Association said in a release.

It added, “The Association would also like to thank the Guyana Olympic Association for giving us this opportunity to be at this Games and know that the experiences the players gained will benefit the future of badminton in Guyana.”
