Hetmyer and Imlach among the runs

Test batsman Shimron Hetmyer and former West Indies Under-19 wicketkeeper/batsman Tevin Imlach struck centuries on Friday, the opening day of sixth round action in the Jaguars Franchise League Three-day competition. 

Hetmyer made 137 as West Berbice took first innings honours against Georgetown, and Imlach was unbeaten on 116 as West Demerara piled up 284-7 against Lower Corentyne.

At Bush Lot, Georgetown made 155 all out in 46.5 overs against West Berbice with Raymond Perez scoring 47 off 59 balls, Ashmead Nedd 23, Sunil Singh 19 and Steven Sankar 15. Gudakesh Motie and Ceon Glasgow both collected four wickets.

West Berbice then replied with captain Shimron Hetmyer  producing a brilliant 137 off 131 balls as the closed on 226-8 off 46 overs. Bowling for Georgetown, Gajanan Suknanan took 4-71, and Kellon Carmichael 2-38.

At Port Mourant, Upper Corentyne batted first against East Bank and posted 262  all out off 62 overs. Clinton Pestano slammed 82 off 104 balls before he was bowled by Ershaad Ali, Eon Hooper made 50, Balchand Baldeo 38 and Johua Ramsammy 34.

Bowling for East Bank, Totaram Bishun picked up 4-50, while Darshan Persaud and Ershaad Ali bagged 2-46 and 2-62 respectively. East Bank closed the day on 129-3 with Sachin Singh not out on 40.

Over at Young Warriors, West Demerara by stumps reached 284-7 against Lower Corentyne with Tevin Imlach and Richie Looknauth not out on 119 and 16 separately. Akshaya Persaud also whipped up 61; Tagenarine Chanderpaul contributed with 21 and Ronaldo Renee 13. 

The fourth match between Essequibo and East Coast will commence today (Saturday) at Tuschen.
