The Guyana Police Force has announced that a team of police ranks from Georgetown arrested the prime suspect in connection with the murder of two elderly women who were found bound and gagged in their South and Albert Street home on October 3, 2017.

According to a police release, at about 12:00hrs on Sunday, a team of police ranks from Georgetown led by a Senior Officer, acting on intelligence, went to Karawab, Pomeroon River, some 65 miles from Charity, Essequibo Coast, where they arrested the alleged mastermind.

News Room was reliably informed that the suspect goes by many aliases including Christopher Persaud, Christopher Narine and Imran Khan. Two other suspects who remain in police custody had earlier in the week confessed to the brutal murder of 89-year-old Constance Fraser and 77-year-old Phylis Caesar.

Dead: Phylis Caesar and Constance Fraser

News Room was also told that murder was not the intention of those who invaded the home of the women; they reportedly were there to rob the women, but something happened that caused them to take their lives.

The elderly women were found bound and gagged in their home just after 08:00hrs on Tuesday by church members.

A post-mortem conducted on the bodies of Fraser and Caesar by Government Pathologist, Dr. Nehaul Singh gave the cause of death as asphyxiation due to suffocation and manual strangulation compound with trauma to the head.

News Room previously reported that Caesar was the caretaker of the Full Gospel Assembly Church, located opposite the home and also worked at a Private School a short distance away.

Pastor of the Church, Winston McGowan had told reporters that he and other church members visited the women on Monday evening and spent some time with them before leaving at about 19:30hrs.
