A couple was Sunday night attacked and robbed by three armed bandits in front of their home located on the Grove Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).

According to Nikeita Khan, she and her husband were heading home when the gunmen approached on foot at around 20:30hrs and robbed them of some $90,000 in cash, two cell phones, personal documents, and their motorcar.

Nikeita said she came out of the car to put some items in the garage when she realised her husband was being attacked by the men, who were unmasked.

She said the perpetrators began to harass her while they demanded her husband hand over all their valuables.
Nikeita said as the bandits were about the escape on foot, one of the perpetrators suggested they steal the car as well. As such, she said the armed men threw her husband on the ground and escaped.

Nikeita said the matter was immediately reported to the police but she was not satisfied with the response.
“They didn’t even set up a roadblock or anything,” she lamented during a telephone interview with the News Room.

Nikeita said the men apparently discarded a Bible that was in the car somewhere in the vicinity of Providence, EBD.
“Like they threw away the Bible because it (the Bible) had our numbers inside and a lady called to say she found it,” Nikeita explained.

She is pleading with members of the public to help her recover the stolen motorcar which has registration number PPP 6167.
