A 16-year-old is among three persons who were remanded to prison for the murder of a Corentyne block maker when they appeared at the Springlands Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.

Bharrat Ramsaywack, 44, his 16-year-old son and 19-year-old Mohamlall Sewsankar were not required to plead to the charge when it was read to them by Magistrate Rabindranauth Singh.

The court heard that between October 02 and 06 at Number 55 Village Corentyne Berbice, they murdered 21-year-old Mahendra Ghanie of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne Berbice.

    Dead: Mahendra Ghanie

News Room was informed that the trio reportedly confessed to Detectives that Ghanie stole two goats from their farm and that they had lured him to the Number 55 Village Burial Ground on the Corentyne, where they attacked him.

They reportedly told investigators that Ghanie was hit in the head and after he became unconscious, he was taken behind the home of Bharrat, where animal feces and coconut shells were placed on top his body before he was set on fire.

The case was transferred to the Number 51 Magistrates Court for October 18. The 16-year-old was remanded to the juvenile holding centre while the two adults were remanded to prison.
