Wickets for Hooper; runs for Baldeo and Surujnarine
Georgetown began their battle in the final round of the Jaguars Franchise League Three-day competition against Upper Corentyne at Port Mourant on Thursday, with the host team enjoying the better of the exchanges by stumps.
Batting first, Georgetown posted 274 all out off 71.1 overs with opening batsman Shemroy Barrington scoring 39, Raymond Perez 41, Kellon Carmichael 39 and Travis Mohammed 45. Bowling for Upper Corentyne, First-Class off-spinner Eon Hooper bowled brilliantly to grab 5-58, while Shawn Pereira had 2-65.
Upper Corentyne closed the day on 131-1 with Kandasammy Surujnarine hitting 54 and Balchand Baldeo not out on 73 off 82 balls.
Meanwhile, the three other matches in the final round will commence on Friday, with Upper Demerara/ East Bank opposing East Coast Demerara at the Everest Cricket Club ground, West Berbice hosting the second placed Lower Corentyne at Bush Lot and league leaders Essequibo battling third placed West Demerara at the Tuschen ground.
