Repeat offender back in jail for stealing AC unit from GPHC

A man who was recently released from prison was on Friday sentenced to six months imprisonment by Magistrate Leron Daly for stealing an Air Conditioning unit from the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

Asif Mohammed confessed that on October 8, 2017, at GPHC he stole the item, which is vailed at $125,400.  Mohammed did not have legal representation but told the court that he saw a part of the unit hanging from the building and decided to take it.

Police Prosecutor, Sanj Singh told the court that on the day in question, Mohammed was observed by security officials removing the AC unit. Before imposing her sentence, Magistrate Latchman took into consideration his early plea.

Mohammed was recently released from prison after serving 18 months for simple larceny.
