Trinidad and Tobago driving sensation Kristian Boodoosingh has been confirmed as one of the overseas competitors for the Georgetown Grand Prix ‘Caribbean Showdown’ billed for this weekend.

Organised by GT Motorsports in partnership with a host of sponsors, the eagerly anticipated event will speed off at 18:00h on Saturday (October 21) at the go-kart facility at the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club.

Boodoosingh, the 2015 Caribbean Motor Racing Championships’ Group Four runner-up, will make his second appearance at the Georgetown Grand Prix, after competing for the first time at the event back in April this year.

Back then he lined up in the Shifter Pro Cup against the likes of Group Four rival Kristian Jeffrey, but didn’t get the desired results, finishing outside the top three in two races and failing to finish the third.

Keen rivalry is anticipated at the ‘Caribbean Showdown’

This time around, the Trini will do battle in the 125cc Senior category and he is looking to right the wrongs of that April race meet.

“I am ecstatic about this opportunity given to me again by Vishok Persaud to race under the lights at the GT Motorsports facility. This time I will be running in the 125cc class, coming up against the likes of the Jamaican racers. Now having one event under my belt it should put me in a better position to hopefully get on the podium this coming Saturday,” Boodoosingh told News Room on Sunday.

Denzel Hopkinson, among others, will line up in the 125cc Senior category

He will be up against Matthew Vieira, Denzel Hopkinson, Mikhail Persaud and first-timers to GT Motorsports, the Jamaican duo Senna Summerbell and Joshua Sigany.

Action will get underway at 18:00h and admission to the venue is $1,000 for adults, $500 for children and $4,000 for the VIP experience.

Another large crowd is anticipated at the Georgetown Grand Prix

The Georgetown Grand Prix will set the stage for the ultimate motorsport event of the year- the final leg of the Caribbean Motor Racing Championship on November 12 at the South Dakota Circuit.

It is being supported by Sun Burst Juices, Rent-A-Tent, Fly Jamaica, Stag Beer, Monster Energy Drink, Exxon Mobil, Hand-in-Hand Insurance, Readymix Concrete, Scotiabank, Cloud 9, Optique Vision Care, Toucan Industries, Ticket Master Travel Agency, E-Networks, King’s Jewellery World, Hero Motor Cycles, Ray’s Motor Spares, Cyril’s Taxi Service, Bounty, Trophy Stall, Prem’s Electrical Store, Impressions, Truck Masters, Windjammer, Super Bet, The Track Bar, Ocean Spray Hotel, Secure Innovation and Concept, Clear Waters, Marics, Rid-O-Pest and Karcher.
