Kristian Jeffrey was adjudged driver-of-the-weekend
Guyana’s speedster Kristian Jeffrey impressed on his final weekend of the Radical Series Challenge in the UK. Competing for Radical Works Team at Snetterton Racing Circuit, Jeffrey posted on his Instagram account on Sunday, “Can’t ask for a better way to end my season of the Radical Challenge Series. P4 in qualifying, P3 race 1, P4 race 2 and P2 in the final race with great battling in all races. Also got the driver of the weekend award…”
In Race One, a drag race to the finish line, Jeffrey lost out on second spot by a margin, before he started Race Two in seventh position and worked his way up to fourth after “lots of touching and bumping at the start of the race.”
In Race Three, the Guyanese battled from start to finish and was leading for a while, “but came out the pit in second after the pit stop, and from there on was a three-way battle for the lead, ending in P2.”
Jeffrey spoke to News Room after his performance, stating, “(We) came into the final round of the championship with a goal of finishing in the top 10 in the championship. We were in seventh overall, with the final three races; I drove my best weekend to stay consistent in the top three.”
He added, “What’s special about the weekend, I got the driver of the weekend and Sunoco sponsored me an entrance to race in Barcelona with Radicals in two weeks. As for my team, they did a really good job on my car and the experience I gained throughout the year helped with my progression throughout the season.”
Jeffrey praised his parents, Group Four driver Kevin Jeffrey and former national squash player Denise Jeffrey, for their role in his success at the Series.
“None of this would have happened without the help of my parents, and it so happened to be on the weekend of my mother’s 50th birthday, in which I dedicate my weekend to. Also we ended the championship fifth overall out of 35 drivers,” Jeffrey concluded.
