PAN AM HOCKEY: Guyana’s Women suffer tough 4-3 loss to Uruguay
Guyana’s Women’s team suffered a tough opening loss to Uruguay when the Pan American Indoor Hockey Cup kicked off at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on Monday morning.
With scores level 3-3, Constanza Barrandeguy of Uruguay scored a screamer of a penalty with just one minute left in the game to separate the two teams.
Guyana and Uruguay traded goals the entire match with Uruguay always getting the go-ahead goal and it Barrandeuy’s goal in the 39th minute that sunk the Guyanese with little time left to mount any substantial attack.
Scoring from Guyana were Trisha Woodroffe in the 13th minute, Aliyah Gordon in the 23rd and Nicole Eastman in the 38th minute. Uruguay’s other scorers were Agustina Nieto in the fourth minute, Maria Teresa Viana Ache in the 15th and Milagros Algorta in the 22nd minute.
