Future Stars claim Nation’s Cup futsal title

Future Stars stormed their way to the first Nation’s Cup Futsal title on Wednesday evening at the National Gymnasium after a brilliant performance from Curtez Kellman.

What seemed like an even match on paper turned out to be a one-sided affair as Future Stars had their way with Goal is Money behind Kellman’s dazzling display of goal scoring.

After a nervous start by both sides, Kellman launched a shot from straight on that was simply unstoppable to notch his first goal in the 15th minute. Kellman’s second goal came of a sweet pass from the left side of the court that he easily tapped in, in the 28th minute.

Even though Michael Pedro pulled one back for Goal is money in the 35th minute, Kellman responded with a blast from the right side almost immediately that if stopped by the keeper might have left his gloves on fire in the 37th minute.

With the game basically over and patrons starting to leave, Akeemo Anthony rubbed salt in the wounds of Goal is Money with a definite game sealer in 45th minute of the match.

“Well it was a really good win for us, we came out and played as team and the space I created for myself allowed my teammates to find me for the goals I accomplished tonight,” Kellman noted.

Captain of Future Stars Keron Solomon also spoke on the team’s victory. “First of all I want to thank God for this victory but we expected this, we have been getting to the semi-finals in these tournaments and we came out here and played with togetherness and got the victory and I must say thanks to all those that supported us, we are a young team with no coach, everybody contributes what they know and we got the victory,” Solomon shared.

Meanwhile, Sparta Boss had a field day with Back Circle in their third place playoff, winning the match 7-0.

Eusi Phillips scored a double in the fourth and 19th minutes, while Daniel Wilson (7th), Gregory Richardson (10th), Solomon Austin (22nd), Jerome Richardson (24th) and Courtney Britton (29th) chipped in with solo efforts.

The night ended with the teams receiving their prize money at a simply presentation ceremony immediately after the final.
