An accident on the Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara (WCD) public road on Sunday afternoon (October 22) has left three persons dead.
Dead are 22-year-old Deodat Mohan of Vreed-en-Hoop, who was reportedly the driver, 18-year-old Reaz Barakat of 12 Ruimzeight, WCD and 17-year-old Telisha of Diamond New Scheme, East Bank Demerara.
News Room understands that Mohan was driving PPP 4014 when he overtook a minibus but lost control and slammed into a parked car before his car flipped and crashed into a Guyana Power and Light (GPL) utility pole.
The pole had a transformer on it and as a result, the Vreed-en-Hoop area has been plunged into darkness. Public-spirited persons rushed the tri0 to the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) where Telisha and Mohan were pronounced dead on arrival.
Barakat, who was transferred from the WDRH to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation in a critical condition, succumbed to his injuries at the said hospital.
