A Brazilian national named “Nemar” was shot dead at a mining pit along the Mazarunin River on Tuesday, Police headquarters has reported.
Police said Nemar was killed at the 7 Hour Backdam,Dukwarie, Cuyuni River by a 55-year-old Security Guard of La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara.
“Initial investigation disclosed that victim (deceased) and his wife, a businesswoman of Charlotte Street, Georgetown had an argument which erupted into a fight during which the suspect intervene and tried to calm them down, subsequently the victim picked up a cutlass and attack the suspect which resulted in him being shot to the face,” Police stated.
The security guard has been arrested.
