Guyoil, Ramchand’s onboard with November race meet
The Guyana Oil Company (Guyoil) and Ramchand’s Auto Spares have confirmed their partnership with the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) for the International Race of Champions in November.
Guyoil’s Marketing Manager Eric Whaul on Wednesday presented GMR&SC’s Surica Singh with the company’s sponsorship at its Camp Street office. In handing over the sponsorship, Whaul said the company is a long time sponsor of sport and this is another way of fulfilling its corporate/social responsibility.
He stated that a lot of the company’s products are also geared toward a large base of the racing family hence the company being onboard.
Meanwhile, Ramchand’s Auto Spares representative Yogeshwar Ragbeer said the company is elated to be a part of the event, adding that they are hoping to see more competitors than last year’s edition.
Tina Morris of GMR&SC thanked the company for coming on board for the event, adding that their sponsorship will go a long way in ensuring that it is a success.
The 27-race programme is billed for November 11 and 12 at the South Dakota Circuit. The event will see competition from Trinidad, Barbados, Jamaica, the United States and Canada. In addition to the local races, the club has also included two sets of new events.
The much talked about Radical SR3 will make their debut here during that event as part of what the club deems ‘giving back to the fans.’ There are also three professional drift cars that are expected for the event so that persons can be introduced to and excited by the different forms of entertainment on both days.
Saturday will be treated as just as a race day, with adults being charged $1,000 per entry and children 500. On Sunday, adults will be charged $2,000 and children $1,000.
Qualification will also be held on Saturday morning from 10:00h with races beginning from 14:00. Scrutineering will take place on Thursday and Friday and before qualification on Saturday. Meanwhile, the club is organising weekend and VIP passes for those patrons desirous of viewing both days.
