Two male sex workers, who allegedly robbed an elderly man, were on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman.

Kevin Forrester, 21 of Side Line Dam, East Coast Demerara and Godfrey Cox, 18 of High Street, Georgetown were jointly charged.

Particulars of the offence alleged that on October 24, 2017, at Croal Street, Georgetown they robbed Victor Bess of GY$84,000 along with US$370 while making use of personal violence against him.

The duo denied the charge. Forester told the court that the elderly man solicited the ‘services’ of Cox but then he [Bess] assaulted him [Cox].

Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves told the court that the two defendants have similar matters before the court and committed the offence while on bail. According to reports, on the day in question, Bess was walking along Croal Street when he was assaulted and robbed by the two accused.

Gonsalves objected to Forester and Cox being released on bail based on the seriousness and prevalence of the charge. The Magistrate ruled in the prosecution’s favour and remanded the duo until November 2O, 2017.
