A 19-year-old male is receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital for a gunshot wound he sustained on the right hand after he was shot by the police on Monday, October 30, 2017.
A police report noted that the teenager of One Mile Wismar, Linden and Better Hope, East Coast Demerara was shot during a confrontation with the police after he allegedly attempted to rob a 28-year-old businessman about 15:15 hrs today at Plaisance, East Coast Demerara.
According to the police report, initial investigations revealed that a police anti-crime patrol, which was in the area at the time, responded to the report where they cornered the suspect in a yard as he attempted to flee.
