Prisoner caught with ‘ganja’, 16 packs of cigarette at NA Prison


A convicted prisoner from the New Amsterdam (NA) Prison was caught on Tuesday, November 07, 2017 trying to smuggle a quantity of marijuana and cigarettes into the facility.

According to prison officials, at about 19:30 hrs, 42-year-old Anderson Nicolson, who is serving 13 years imprisonment for the murder of his wife, was caught with the illegal items as he made his way back to the facility from the prison club, where he works as an Orderly and DJ.

He was stopped and searched by prison officers on duty when the items were found hidden inside an Amplifier, which he had in his possession at the time.  The marijuana was weighed in his presence and amounted to 633 grams along with 16 packets of cigarette. He is slated to appear in court shortly.
