A 26-year-old male of Lot 3515, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown is in police custody after he stabbed a labourer to death at about 15:00hrs on Wednesday.
In a statement late this evening, the police explained that Hafeez Douglas, 27, a labourer, also of North Ruimveldt, Georgetown was stabbed to death after he attempted to resolve a dispute between the suspect, Jermaine Abel and his (Abel’s) brother.
Initial police investigation revealed that Douglas ended up in an argument with the suspect, who stabbed him to his left side chest with an improvised weapon (jucker).
He collapsed and was subsequently examined by a emergency technician from the Central Fire Station who pronounced him dead.
The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a postmortem.
News Room was told that the suspect turned himself over to the police following the incident and also handed over the murder weapon.
Investigation is ongoing.
