The golf season will continue with the MACORP Invitational on Saturday and some of the nation’s best golfers are expected out in their numbers to vie for the 11th championship title.

At the launching on Wednesday morning, CEO of Machine Corporation (MACORP), Jorge Medina, highlighted why the company, which is the sole distributor of Catepillar machines, continues to invest in golf.

“With all eyes on Guyana, we have to continue with these programmes as a way of improving life for all those in Guyana and not just us as the private sector but the Government as well,” Medina shared.

Vice-President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Brian Hackett, praised MACORP for its continued support not just of the tournament, but of the sport itself.

“This Saturday is all about MACORP, they have been great partners with us aiding in bettering our drainage and their continued support at the club, we are happy to be associated with MACORP and we know that we will have a great tournament this Saturday,” Hackett noted.

Representative of MACORP, Bonard Joseph, highlighted that the event has been able to foster development throughout the years.

“Since the formulation of this initiative we have seen continued progress and development of the players over the years and MACORP assures that we will continue with this programme,” Joseph noted during his remarks.

The tournament is being sponsored to the tune of $400,000 and will tee off on Saturday at 12:30h at the Lusignan Golf Course where the best golfers in the country will gather for an intriguing one day event.
