Ex-cop, Cashier accused of faking robbery at Woodlands Hospital
A former Police Officer and a cashier attached to the Woodlands Hospital, who allegedly faked a robbery and stole $1.4M from the medical institution, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Monday, November 13, 2017.
Hanieff Peters, a 32-year-old Security Guard of East La Penitence and Susan Daniels, a 33-year-old cashier/ receptionist of Canal #2 Polder, West Bank Demerara were jointly charged with simple larceny.
The duo denied that on August 31, 2017, at Woodlands Hospital, Carmichael Street they stole $1.4M from the medical institution.
Daniels was charged separately with giving false information to the police at Brickdam Police Station on September 01, 2017, when she claimed that she was robbed. She pleaded not guilty. Police prosecutor, Gordon Mansfield informed the court that both defendants are known to each other.
Mansfield explained that on the day in question, Daniels was taking the day’s money to her supervisor when she alleged that she was robbed by a lone masked man.
The matter was reported to the police and during their investigations, it was found that the woman’s claim was bogus and that she had planned the robbery with Peters.
The Magistrate released Peters on $100,000 bail and Daniels on $200,000. The case was adjourned to December 04, 2017.
