Youth charged with murder of North Ruimveldt man

 A 26-year-old man was on Tuesday charged with the murder of Hafeez Douglas, who was stabbed and killed while attempting to stop a fight on November 08, 2017.

Jermaine Abel appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court and was not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on the day in question, at North Ruimveldt, Georgetown he murdered 27-year-old Douglas.

Police Prosecutor, Bess told the court that Douglas was stabbed to death after he attempted to resolve a dispute between the accused and his younger brother. Douglas collapsed and was pronounced dead by an emergency technician from the Central Fire Station.

 

The Prosecutor informed the Magistrate that the file is incomplete and the post-mortem report is still outstanding. The case was adjourned to November 15, 2017, and was transferred it to Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
