Guyana’s senior national Men’s football team, the Golden Jaguars, played to a 1-1 draw against Trinidad and Tobago in their International Friendly on Tuesday evening at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Trinidad.

The Jaguars took the lead early in the first half, before the host nation equalised in the second half. Sheldon Holder put the Jaguars ahead with a goal in the 19th minute, as they head into the half-time break with the advantage.

However, 15 minutes after the break, Trinidad and Tobago equalised through Shahdon Winchester.

Interim Head Coach of the Golden Jaguars, Wayne Dover, said after the game, “The game was tough, our players stuck to the game plan and defended well. In the transition, we posed a serious threat to Trinidad and on one of the many breaks, we scored. However, there was an over-rotation and we conceded.”

Technical Director of the Guyana Football Federation, Ian Greenwood, posted on his Facebook page: “Quality team performance tonight by the Golden Jaguars as we continue to build the senior programme!”
