7-Y-0 stabbed in neck with pencil

Seven – year – old Delicia Augustin is in a stable condition at the Georgetown Hospital after she was stabbed in the neck with a pencil, from the pointed end, allegedly by another student at the St. John’s The Baptiste Primary School in Bartica.

Relatives of the child told News Room that the incident occurred at approximately 13:00hrs on Wednesday, November 15 at the school. According to the family, the pencil remained lodged in the child’s neck for hours even after she was rushed to the Bartica Regional Hospital, as doctors there were unable to remove it.

Officials managed to source an aircraft at approximately 17:00hrs and Augustin was air-dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where she went into surgery at around 19:00hrs.

By 21:00hrs, the pencil was removed and Augustin is said to be in a stable condition.
