Cuban nationals robbed at gunpoint in Bel Air Park

Police are on the hunt for three men, who executed a daring early morning robbery on two Cuban nationals as they were preparing to head to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport on Saturday, November 18, 2017.

According to information reaching News Room, 36-year-old Yunier Martinez Smontoya was robbed of his Cuban passport, ID card, US$370, one Stereo set, a Plasma TV, an iPhone 7 plus and $74,000 Guyana currency at his apartment in Bel Air Park, Georgetown.

His friend, 24-year-old Adrian Quesada Del Vallin was also robbed of his Cuban passport and ID card. The Police were told that the two men were about to leave for the Timehri Airport to return to Cuba and at about 8:00hrs, Del Vallin opened the eastern gate of the well-fenced yard to discard garbage when a silver-grey Premio – HC 4588 – stopped in front of the gate.

News Room understands that three men who were dressed in dark colour clothing disembarked the vehicle held Del Vallin at gunpoint and escorted him through the eastern door into the building where the other victim was sitting in the dining area.

They were both ordered to lie on the ground while the suspects took their valuables and escaped in the said car.
