Pastor robbed on Church Street, 3 arrested
Three male suspects have been arrested for robbing a 66-year-old pastor on Church Street, Georgetown shortly after he left a city bank last Wednesday.
The police said the pastor of Haslington, East Coast Demerara (ECD) had stepped out of his vehicle to conduct an inspection after it was struck in the rear by a silver Spacio, only to be pounced on by two armed occupants of the said car.
The pastor was relieved of a parcel containing an undisclosed sum of money which was inside of his vehicle.
Three suspects were subsequently arrested in connection to the robbery. The police said one of the suspects has since admitted to the crime and has also implicated the others. Police said stringent efforts are being made to apprehend a fourth suspect.
Police have also recovered the silver Spacio used in the robbery which had false number plates as well as some of the stolen money.
Meanwhile, the police said a search of one of the suspect’s homes on the West Bank of Demerara, resulted in the arrest of six persons (3 males and 3 females) after a total of 299 grams of cannabis were found.
Police said investigations are in progress.
