A 45-year-old Contractor was robbed of cash and valuables earlier today, shortly after he left a bank on the East Bank of Demerara (EBD).
According to information received, Ishrie Persaud of Corneila Ida, West Coast Demerara went to the Diamond, EBD branch of the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry where he withdrew $300,000 and proceeded to the Good Success koker, EBD to pay his workers.
It was revealed that while there, at about 11:30hrs, he was confronted by two men, one of whom was armed with a black handgun. One of the suspects reportedly pointed the gun at Persaud while the other proceeded to relieve him of $210,000, two cellphones valued $85,000, a silver cricket band value $50,000, his National ID card and his GBTI card.
The suspects managed to escape in a silver 212 motor car and discharged shots in the air.
