Lennox Kurt, a prisoner who is on remand for the $1.4M armed robbery committed on a Digicel Outlet was on Friday charged with shooting at a 15-year-old with intent to commit murder.

Kurt, 33 of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and was not required to plead to the indictable charge which alleged that on June 19, 2016, at South Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he discharged a loaded firearm at Jamal Lewis with intent to commit murder.

It is further alleged that on the same day, he robbed Taparu Persaud of a cell phone valued $80,000. He denied that charge.

The matter was adjourned to December 5, 2017, when it will be recalled before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

According to reports, at about 14:00hrs, the teenager was shot to his face during a failed armed robbery on a mechanic shop by three men.

Lewis, according to the Guyana Police Force, allegedly had a scuffle with one of the suspects, during which one round from the suspect’s firearm struck him.
