Submersible vessel discovered in Reg. 1, two in custody

A team of Investigators from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) will be deployed to North West District, Region One, on Monday with assistance from the Guyana Defense Force (GDF) Coast Guard to ascertain the purpose of a submersible vessel, which was discovered on Saturday, November 25.

The Guyana Police Force said the vessel, measuring approximately 25 meters long, 2.7 meters in width and 2.8 meters in depth, was discovered in a creek at Annbisi River, Port Kaituma, North West District.

At the time of the discovery, the vessel was located on the bank of the creek where a 40-year-old Guyanese national was conducting repairs on it.

The man along with a 40-year-old Venezuelan national, were taken into custody while the vessel was placed under guard.
