Two men were on Monday remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for allegedly robbing a 66-year-old pastor of $1.8M on Church Street, Georgetown.

Renhart Khan, a 31-year-old Fish Vendor of Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara and 25-year-old Alexander LaCruz of Onderneeming, Essequibo Coast were jointly charged with armed robbery.

The duo denied that on November 22, 2017, at Church Street, Georgetown while being armed with a gun, they robbed Elden Anderson of $1.8M.

Police Prosecutor, Shawn Gonsalves objected to bail and cited the seriousness of the charge and the fact that a gun was used to allegedly commit the crime.

They were remanded until December 11, 2017. News Room understands that the Pastor had stepped out of his vehicle to conduct an inspection after it was struck in the rear by a silver Spacio, only to be pounced on by two armed occupants of the said car.

The Pastor was relieved of a parcel containing the cash, which was inside his vehicle.
