Labourer in custody for stabbing Crabwood Creek resident

The Police in Berbice have arrested a labourer, who is accused of stabbing a Crabwood Creek, Corentyne man multiple times to his body on Monday, November 27, 2017.

The injured man has been identified as 53-year-old Bernard Sam while the accused name was given as Vishnunauth Vidur, 42.

According to information reaching the News Room, at about 15:00hrs, Sam was sent on an errand by a female in the area; upon his return, he was confronted by the accused who was intoxicated.

The News Room was told that Vidur verbally abused Sam, who ignored him. However, the accused became even more annoyed and allegedly pulled out a knife from the waist of his pants and dealt Sam two stabs to the abdomen and another to his knee.

Sam’s daughter, who was in the area at the time, rushed him to the Skeldon Public Hospital where he was subsequently transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, given his critical condition.

The matter was later reported to the Springlands Police Station where ranks were dispatched to the location and managed to apprehend the suspect who remains in custody. Investigations are ongoing.
