Elderly man dies after Gov’t ATV crashes in Paramakatoi

A 79-year-old man is now dead after an accident involving an ATV owned by the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs crashed on the Paramakatoi Trail in Region Eight on Wednesday, November 29, 2017.

Dead is Richard Aaron of Paramakatoi Village, who was the pillion rider on the ATV which had registration number CG 8510.

According to information received, the ATV was proceeding south along the Paramakatoi Trail descending a hill when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to turn turtle.

The ATV was being driven by 21-year-old Eggor Aaron of Paramakatoi. News Room understands that when the vehicle toppled, both men were thrown onto the trail where Aaron received injuries about his body.

He was then picked up by the driver and other public-spirited citizens and taken to Paramakatoi Health Center where he was examined by the medic but was subsequently pronounced dead.

The driver was taken into police custody and an investigation has been launched.
