Good Hope man shot dead while sleeping

A 57-year-old man of Good Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was murdered while he was reportedly asleep in a hammock on the veranda of his one-flat house.

Roger Bumbery was discovered by his reputed wife with gunshot wounds to his head lying in a pool of blood in the kitchen at 00:45hrs on Friday morning.

Police said the victim was accused of wounding a man in March 2017 and that the court case for that matter was pending.

According to the police, the wife was awoken by several loud explosions and upon investigation she found her spouse lying motionless on the kitchen floor.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital.

Police said three spent shells and a warhead, all of a small caliber weapon, were retrieved at the scene by investigators.  An investigation was launched but no arrest has yet been made.
