Tuschen man killed by speeding driver

A 35-year-old resident of Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara is in police custody, following the death of 25-year-old Kevin Harris, who was struck down on the Vergenoegen Public Road, East Bank Essequibo on Thursday evening, November 30, 2017.

According to a police report, the accident occurred at approximately 18:30hrs, while, Harris of Tuschen, EBE, crossed the road. He was rushed to the Leonora Diagnostic Centre in an unconscious state and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at the Ezekiel Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Police noted that the driver of PSS 2168, was speeding east along the northern carriageway when Harris allegedly ran across the road from south to north into the path of the vehicle and sustained severe injuries as a result of the impact. The driver was found to be above the legal alcohol limit.
