Body of Waitress found in Berbice with stab wounds

The Police in Berbice have arrested a man in connection with the discovery of woman’s body in a canal at Number 4 Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB), a short distance from her home on Monday, December 4, 2017. The body bore multiple stab wounds.

The woman has been identified as 22-year-old Marissa Rehanna Fraser of Lot 24 Public Road, Number 4 Village, WCB.

According to information received, the woman’s body was discovered by passersby at about 7:00hrs.

An eyewitness, Timalin Thompson said there were several stab wounds to the woman’s face.  News Room was told that at the time of the discovery, the woman’s body was covered in mud, with her clothing pulled up to her stomach and her underwear missing.

Her aunt, who also spoke to the News Room, Dolly Sibdhannie, said the young woman left home on Sunday afternoon at around 19:00hrs.

“She was home whole day but then she left and one of her cousin ask where she going and she say she ah come back just now,” she said.

Sibdhannie further explained that at around midnight, Fraser returned home but did not spend long before venturing out again.

“Her cousin said it appears that someone was waiting for her, the way she come in, she did not change or anything. I was made to understand that she was at some wedding house in the next village sometime last night,” the aunt said.

According to the police, a piece of scissors was recovered at the scene. Fraser’s body is at the Baileys funeral home awaiting a post mortem.
