Update: Williamsburg woman stabbed 5 times, found with electrical cord around neck

Forty – year – old Indrawattie Totaram was found naked in a pool of blood on a mattress on the floor of her house with two stab wounds to her right breast, two stab wounds to her right-side ribs and one stab wound to her right arm while an electrical cord was tied around her neck.

Her husband of ten years, 36-year-old Krishna Latchman – a cane-harvester- was found hanging from a rope which was tied to the rafter in the house. Police said the gruesome discovery was made around 18:30 hrs on Sunday, December 03, 2017 at the couple’s Lot 26 Williamsburg Corentyne, Berbice home.

The suspected murder weapon –  a knife – was found on top of a fridge in the kitchen with blood stains. The couple lived in a small flat wooden house.

News Room understands that some time back, Latchman accused his wife of having an affair following which she moved out of the house on November 27, 2017, however, she returned home on December 1, 2017.

A carpenter of the area was walking in front of the couple’s house on Sunday evening when he saw Latchman hanging from the ceiling in the house; he Immediately informed the ranks at the Rose Hall Police outpost, who arrived and made the gruesome discovery. It is believed that Latchman killed his wife before taking his own life.

Their bodies are at the Port Mourant Hospital mortuary.
