Taxi driver Matthew Munroe, 47, of 19th Street, Diamond Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara (EBD) has been charged with the murder of schoolteacher, Kescia Branche.

He is due to appear in court this afternoon.

Munroe’s car at the Brickdam Police Station

Branche, a teacher of the Richard Ishmael Secondary School, died at the Georgetown Public Hospital on November 07, 2017. She was found lying on the roadside in an unconscious state two days prior.

A post-mortem which was performed on the remains of the teacher found that she died as a result of blunt trauma to the head and haemorrhage.

The injuries were consistent with her either jumping or being pushed from a moving vehicle.

Police had impounded Munroe’s car at the Brickdam Police Station. Munroe was reportedly the same person who Branche last had telephone contact with.
