A New Amsterdam resident is dead while a teenager is battling for his life at the Georgetown Public Hospital following an early morning accident involving a motorcycle and a hire car on Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Main and Lad Lane, New Amsterdam.
Dead is 29-year-old Gavin Crandon of New Amsterdam while the injured teen has been identified as 15-year-old Hubert Williamson, also of New Amsterdam. They were both on the motorcycle.
News Room understands that at about 01:30hrs, motor car, PSS 1890 was proceeding in the eastern direction and stopped to make a turn when the motorcycle, CJ 735 which was heading in the opposite direction, slammed into the car.
As a result, the rider, Crandon and pillion rider, Williamson were flung several feet away from the point of impact and were picked up by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
News Room understands that Crandon died almost an hour later while Williamson was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital in a critical condition. Investigations are ongoing. (Royan Abrams)
