Taxi driver carjacked in Eccles; police hunt female, male suspects

Police are on the hunt for a male and female who allegedly robbed a 65-year-old taxi driver of his White Toyota Fielder Wagon (HC 6999) on Friday, December 08, 2017 at Flamboyant Street, Eccles East Bank Demerara.

The perpetrators also took Albert Hunte’s cell phones and $12,000 in cash; the incident occurred at approximately 22:45hrs. News Room understands that Hunte was at the Stabroek Market car park when he received a call on his cellphone from a female on an unknown number, who requested to be picked up at Regent and Orange Walk, Bourda.

Upon arrival, Hunte picked up the two suspects; the male sat in the front passenger seat while the female sat in the back. They then requested to be taken to Flamboyant Street, Eccles and on arrival, the male exited the vehicle, went to the driver’s side and held him at gunpoint.

 

The suspect ordered the driver out of the car and then escaped with the said car in a northern direction. Investigations are ongoing.
