Gunmen invade Soesdyke Post Office

Police are on the hunt for two armed men, who attacked and robbed the Soesdyke Post Office, East Bank Demerara on Friday, December 15, 2017.

News Room understands that the Post Mistress, 52-year-old Grace Gibson was sitting alone inside the office at about 14:05hrs when an armed man, who was dressed in camouflage pants and camouflage hooded top entered and pointed a gun at her.

He told her to “open the f*%#ing door as his accomplice joined; Gibson complied and the men searched a drawer and took $60,000 in cash. News Room understands that the men then demanded that Gibson open the vault, where they took $135,000.

Information reaching News Room revealed that the gunmen ordered the Post Mistress to lie on the floor as they continued to search the office; they also stole her Blu cellular phone.

Reports indicate that the men exited the post office and walked a short distance on the street, where they joined a blue motor vehicle and escaped.
