Several injured in Corentyne accident

Several persons have been rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after sustaining injuries to various parts of their bodies following an accident on the Number 19 public road, Corentyne, Berbice, on Tuesday morning.

While the details surrounding the incident are still sketchy, the News Room understands that at about 09:30hrs, motor car PLL 3547 was proceeding east along the Number 19 public road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and swerved into the path of a canter truck which was heading in the opposite direction.

According to information received, at the time of the accident, several persons were travelling in the tray of the canter. They were flung from the vehicle which eventually crashed into a canal.

Eyewitnesses revealed that the driver of the motor car may have lost control since the road was wet as a result of heavy downpour earlier in the morning.

The police were summoned to the scene and they rushed the injured persons to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.
