A female police officer who has been toiling in the Guyana Police Force today emerged as the best police officer for this year.

While no senior police officer could readily say if it would be the first time that a female member of the force was adjudged the overall best cop, today will go down as the day in recent history that a woman received the honours.

Woman Superintendent Charmaine Stewart is the head of the Guyana Police Force Band Corps and also sits on several other bodies within the police force.

She received in excess of $200,000 and a plaque from the Police Force along with several local tours and a trip to Aruba, compliments of Roraima Airways.

By virtue of her leadership and performance at the band corps, Superintendent Stewart has been spearheading the appearances of police force band at functions mainly on a pro bono basis.

In brief remarks, Superintendent Stewart said, “The songwriter said give thanks with grateful heart and this morning I must first give thanks to the almighty for his continued guidance for without him nothing is possible.”

In addition to being the best cop of the Guyana Police force, the senior female officer was also awarded for her unwavering performances and execution of her duties on the other bodies within the force where it is believed she served exceptionally.
