Banks DIH Limited has thrown its support behind the Den Amstel Football Club, which will host its year-end tournament, commencing this weekend. At the press conference this week, it was announced that eight West Demerara Clubs will be vying for the top prize $400,000.

Coach of Den Amstel Football Club, O’Neil Yearwood, shared his thoughts on the tournament. “We wanted to keep the momentum of football on the West Side so we must thank Banks DIH for aiding this initiative.”

Communication Manager of Banks DIH Limited, Troy Peters, did not hesitate to reaffirm Banks’ commitment to football.

“As you know, GT Beer is the beer of the season and we have been sponsoring tournaments in Berbice, Linden at present and we are quite happy to be at West Demerara with the Den Amstel team this year. We look forward to a very exciting tournament; Banks DIH Limited really supports the promotion of football development in Guyana and we will continue despite of all the negatives that we see happening around football at this time.”

He continued, “We are here to support football and will continue to do so in a positive way because we know as a good corporate citizen it is right to support community based events.”

Meanwhile, Yearwood noted that he is confident the clubs will put on a good show, despite their top players being unavailable because of Elite League commitments.

The tournament will be a straight knockout with all games being played at Den Amstel Community Centre ground. The tournament will commence on Saturday and is expected to conclude on the first Sunday of 2018.
