Overseas-based Guyanese robbed at gunpoint in Craig
Two elderly overseas-based Guyanese were on Saturday morning robbed at gunpoint by armed bandits at Craig Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Manboad Shivran, 62, and Kamala Shivran, 60, both of Texas, USA were robbed of over US$11,600 worth of items.
According to information received, the couple was robbed of two iphones valued US$2000 each, an ipod valued US$1000, a diamond ring valued US$3000, two watches valued US$1000, two cameras valued US$1400, a gold band valued US$400, a silver chain valued US$200, sunglasses valued US$200, a suitcase containing food and clothing valued US$400, a black backpack claiming two purses with accessories valued US$200, US$2000 in cash, a Discovery Card, and important documents including US passports and US drivers license.
News Room understands the couple was heading to their Eccles, EBD home in a motorcar operated by 31-year-old Jermaine Stephen when the vehicle suffered a punctured tyre in Craig.
While changing the tyre, a tinted white premio bearing registration number PSS 3916 stopped next to them. Three men, including one armed with a small handgun, exited the car and demanded the couple hand over their valuables.
The men then made their good escape. Investigations are ongoing.
