Cane Harvester killed in Corentyne accident


A 41-year-old man is now dead following an accident on the Nigg Public Road Corentyne, Berbice on Christmas Eve.

Dead is Mohammed Safraz Haniff, a cane harvester of Chesney Village, Corentyne.

News Room understands that Haniff was riding a bicycle east along the road when it swerved into the path of motorcar PRR 2961 which was proceeding in the same direction.

The two vehicles collided and the cane harvester was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The driver of the motorcar was taken into custody and an investigation has been launched.
