Man killed by speeding minibus, driver flees scene
A 38-year-old man is now dead after he was struck down by a speeding minibus on the Bagostown Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The incident occurred just after midnight on Sunday morning.
News Room understands that the pedestrian, Vincent Scipio of Peter’s Hall, EBD was crossing the road when the minibus bearing registration number BLL 3140 approached at a fast rate and struck him down.
The pedestrian was dragged further up the road until the minibus came to a halt.
Scipio was taken in an unconscious state to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The body is presently at Lyken’s Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Reports are that the minibus was driven by Domain Walcott of Tuschen Housing Scheme, East Bank Essequibo (EBE).
A police statement said the driver has fled the scene but is currently being sought by lawmen.
