Mother dead, children hospitalised in Windsor Forest accident

Forty – seven – year old Romona Persaud was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital following an accident on the Windsor Forest Public Road, West Coast Demerara (WCD) at around 16:45hrs on December 24, 2017.

Her children, 22-year-old Nafeeza Hussain and 14-year-old Joel Persaud also sustained injuries and have been admitted to the same hospital. The family resides in Cornelia Ida, WCD.

News Room understands that the family was travelling in motorcar, PVV 1934, driven by a 25-year-old resident of Zeelugt North, East Bank Essequibo (EBE); they were proceeding west along the southern carriageway when a Pathfinder, PEE 875, which was proceeding north along the eastern side of the road, suddenly turned east and collided with the car.

Aa a result of the impact, the car with the family spun several times and collided with a parked vehicle before ending up in a trench. Both drivers are in police custody; they were tested negative for alcohol.
