A 37-year-old miner on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, charged with the murder of his friend.
Navie Harris of Moruca, North West District was not required to plead to the indictable offence, which alleged that on December 20, 2017, at Waramuri Mission, Moruca, he murdered Rondea Peters called ‘Ninja’.
Harris did not have legal representation and was remanded to prison until January 03, 2018 and the matter was transferred to the Acquero Magistrate’s Court.
According to reports, on the day in question, the two friends were imbibing when Harris accused Peters of stealing two bottles of high wine and dealt him several lashes about his body. It is further alleged that Harris armed himself with a piece of wood and beat Peters to death.
