Alleged speeding ‘Sky Cow’ driver slapped with 5 charges

A Route 32 minibus driver, who fled the scene of an accident at Bagotstown, East Bank Demerara (EBD) on Sunday, December 24, was finally apprehended by the police on Wednesday, December 27.

Twenty – year – old Damion Walcott also known as “Sky Cow” of Tuschen New Scheme, East Bank Essequibo, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, December 28, 2017, first before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan, where he was charged with causing the death of 38-year-old Vincent Scipio of Peters Hall, EBD, by driving minibus BLL 3240 in a manner dangerous to the public.

He pleaded not guilty to this offence and was released on $500,000 bail; this matter was adjourned to January 15, 2018.

Meanwhile, Walcott later appeared before Magistrate Dylon Bess, charged with four other traffic offences in relation to the same accident.

He was charged with driving without a license, failing to report the accident, failing to render assistance to Scipio and driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Police said he pleaded guilty to these charges and was fined a total of $80,000.

News Room had reported that Scipio was crossing the road when the minibus approached at a fast rate and struck him down. He was dragged further up the road until the minibus came to a halt.
